Two people were injured Thursday in Port Lavaca when one SUV struck another SUV that ran a stop sign, police said.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken by ambulance to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria.

The driver of a 2006 blue Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling west on state Highway 238, also known as West Austin Street, when the SUV struck the passenger side of a 1995 black Chevrolet Blazer, Port Lavaca Police Department Cpl. Eric Salles said.

The driver of the Blazer was at a stop sign and failed to yield, Salles said.

Salles would not release the names or ages of the drivers. He said there were no passengers in the SUVs. It is unknown if the drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Salles said no citations have been issued, and the investigation is ongoing.
