"And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things that have no ruler over them. They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net and gather them in their drag and, therefore, they rejoice and are glad." - Habakka 1:14
One day, I was on a fishing trip with two of my very good ocean friends. We stopped fishing for a few minutes and sat down on the beach to take a break. That's when I noticed they were both looking out over the ocean, and I asked them, "What are you thinking?"
One said that she was looking at the majesty of the ocean. She said that she loved to realize that the ocean has always been there, because it was the first thing God made, and it will always will be there.
She likes to think of it as the perfect picture of her God stretching out to the horizon where it touches the sky and sea and where heaven becomes one. And that is what she is striving for.
My other friend, James, said that when he looks at the ocean, he thinks trout, redfish, flounder and where to cast next. He also said that when he looks out over the ocean that all he can think about is all of the fish that are out there just waiting to be caught.
Dear Lord, thank you for my two friends, one that loves the ocean and one that loves to catch the fish in it. And, God, thank you for teaching me how to multitask ... I am able to love the sea and fish in it at the same time.
