Three people were arrested after they were spotted burglarizing cars parked near the Youth Sports Complex and led Victoria police on a short chase Monday night.
Eugene Estrada, 36; Diana Hernandez, 33; and Eric Esquivel, 33, were caught about 6:40 p.m. at a nearby skate park in the 300 block of North Ben Wilson Street.
All three are from San Antonio.
Hernandez was taken to Citizens Medical Center after she complained she was feeling sick, said Lt. Michael Beyer of the Victoria Police Department.
The group had broken into about four cars, and police recovered purses, iPod nanos and credit and gift cards, among other things.
"One lady had a bunch of money in her purse, so that was very unusual," Beyer said. "Usually, if your purse gets stolen, you'll never see that $500 again. ... By catching these guys, the patrol officers prevented a lot more crime."
Hernandez faces charges of debit or credit card abuse, engaging in organized criminal activity, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and theft of property, failure to identify/giving false information and possession of marijuana.
She also had a theft warrant from Bexar County.
Esquivel and Estrada have been charged with debit or credit card abuse, engaging in organized criminal activity, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and theft of property.
The bonds for all three total more than $50,000.
