A flood warning is in effect for the San Antonio River for flood plain areas of Goliad, Victoria and Calhoun counties.

The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi said the river will go into a flood stage by Wednesday between 7 p.m. Wednesday and noon Thursday.

The river is expected to crest below 28 feet.

A National Weather Service meteorologist, Greg Wilk, said the flood is mainly going to affect livestock in flood plain areas in Goliad and Victoria counties. Livestock could be cut off and potentially drowned, Wilk said.

River waters are forecasted to drop below flood stage by Friday morning at the San Antonio River at Goliad, but the flood wave will continue downriver toward Victoria and Refugio counties.
