A Cuero couple whose argument with an IHOP manager went viral on YouTube met with the pancake peddler Thursday.

Pat and Ed Sager chose to eat lunch with Larry Lewis, the franchise's director of operations, at - of all places - IHOP.

The meal was on the house.

"We chose to eat at IHOP because we enjoy eating there," Pat Sager said by telephone Thursday afternoon. "We had a very nice conversation. He and my husband talked about sports, the Dallas Cowboys and the Longhorns, and he assured us that the employees would be treated with dignity and respect."

That's what spurred the Sagers' argument with IHOP manager of three years Samy Mohamed, who was seen yelling in the about two-minute long video another restaurant patron filmed on a smartphone. Pat Sager said she told Mohamed to give her waitress a break.

"We've been there many times before, and he had been rude. I guess I just kind of lost it," she said.

Mohamed, of Houston, told the Advocate by telephone Wednesday that the Sagers made a racial comment toward him and pushed him.

Pat Sager said that is not true.

While she is glad someone finally caught Mohamed's behavior on camera, she does not like the attention her family has received since.

Lewis did not give the Sagers any IHOP coupons or discounts during their Thursday lunch, she said.

"But we wouldn't have taken anything he offered," Pat Sager said.

They'll be returning IHOP customers, she said.
