By Haili ZMusic and apparel go hand in hand - both are inspirational and both define or describe you as a person. Fashion and music define what we're feeling and convey our personalities.
A new label combines the two as the designer, Hanna Rochelle of Lyric Culture, is inspired by both music and fashion.
As Free Press Summer Festival takes place the weekend of June 1-2 in Houston, both fashion and music will take over the city, and I see this as the perfect opportunity to wear Lyric Culture apparel, tying the two together.
Free Press Summer Festival debuted Saturday in the heart of Houston, with fans coming from all corners of Texas to see their favorite bands play during the two-day event.
Among the lineup are The Postal Service; Grammy nominees for Best New Artist, Alabama Shakes; Passion Pit, of the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn II" soundtrack; TV on the Radio; Calvin Harris; and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis of the famed song "Thrift Shop."
"I'm a big fan of Grace Potter. She came by the Lyric Culture studio a few years ago when she was just starting out. We outfitted her with some cool clothes. Her style has definitely evolved. She's a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. We're so happy for all of the success she's experiencing," said Rochelle.
What is it that we all love so much about music and fashion?
Fashion changes daily as well as our tastes in music. Most of us stay true to the apparel we wear and the music we listen to. But what is it that we love so much about the both? Is it because they convey the way we feel at the time? I absolutely love fashion and music for the way they make me feel. I love piecing together a wardrobe for a concert - the look and feel of it all. A nice shirt for the concert with easy jeans and fun shoes is the exact look I am going for - with a nice hat, possibly a fedora, and accessories.
What will you be piecing together for Free Press Summer Festival, summer concerts, and how do you wear your Lyric Culture apparel?
I wear our tees with jeans or leggings paired with motorcycle boots. I'm a big fan of stacking bangles and chunky rings. Our scarves are a great accessory to layer in with basic solid colored tops.
I couldn't agree more with Hanna Rochelle on the summer look she's going for and pairing together. I decide to pair my "She Talks to Angels" tee with a maxi, fedora, stacking bangles and fringe boots for the occasion.
