Catholic Daughters, Court St. Ann No. 369, holds meeting

Court chaplain, Father George Henninger, celebrated a memorial Mass honoring deceased Catholic Daughters of Court St. Ann from the past year Nov. 4 prior to the monthly meeting. Family members of the deceased were special guests. A reception followed the Mass.
Regent Kathryn Ormsby opened the business meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Claudia Schoener acknowledged thank-you cards from Daniel Jalufka, Bishop David Fellhauer, Janet Jones and Sr. Donna Bonorden for prayers, gifts and donations.
Schoener, Circle of Love chairwoman, reported a total of 2,235.5 service volunteer hours and encouraged all members to send their monthly reports to her. She informed members that both local and state scholarship forms with guidelines could be picked up after the meeting from Susana Moya, chairwoman.
Quality of Life Chairwoman Sandra Genoway thanked Niki Laza, Faye Melnar, Dolores Schroller, Donna Moeller and Irene Brosch for assisting with the nursing home bingo in October. She also reported that 89 members and guests enjoyed Senior Fun Day on Oct. 29.
LaVerne Klesel announced that the bake sale was a huge success and thanked members who sent baked goods and especially those that helped with the sale. JoAnn Lau announced that donations for the basket to be donated to Our Lady of Lourdes Festival have poured in and listed items to be included. District Deputy Joan Schramek stated that a multidistrict retreat has been scheduled for Feb. 2 at Agnes Catholic Church in Edna and encouraged members to attend.
Regent Ormsby provided an update on Shoes for Juarez School Children Project. She has been checking shipping prices and hopes to get them there as soon as possible. She also congratulated the Daughter of the Year, Joan Schramek, who was recognized during the awards banquet in October.
Upcoming activities include the Christmas party scheduled for Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m., and members were encouraged to buy their tickets from Jennifer Schellengarger. A games party chaired by Margaret Kutchka and Faye Melnar will take place in late January. Final plans will be announced as soon as completed.
Hostesses for the evening were Gail Scheibelhut, Joan Conaway, Tricia Brandl, Libby Ramirez and Susana Moya.
