Goliad runs to win over Santa Rosa

KINGSVILLE - Dalton Sturm ran for three touchdowns to lead Goliad to a 23-13 Class 2A, Division I bi-district playoff win over Santa Rosa on Friday night at Javelina Stadium.

Goliad improved to 7-4 with its first playoff win since 1997. The Tigers advance to the area round where they will face McGregor, a 42-20 winner over Rice Consolidated, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Bastrop's Memorial Stadium.

Sturm carried 33 times for 135 yards and scored all three of his touchdowns in the first half.

Goliad held the Warriors (8-3), who were the champions of District 16-2A, to seven first downs and 147 yards of total offense, including 40 rushing yards.

The Tigers, who finished fourth in District 15-2A, had 327 yards, including 252 rushing yards.
