Victoria College will hold nursing information night sessions at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 on VC's Vocational Nursing Program. Both sessions take place at the college's Health Sciences Center, Room 132.
Information on the application process, requirements of the vocational nursing program and financial aid will be offered at the sessions.
"The information sessions serve as an opportunity for interested individuals wanting to learn details about the nursing profession," said Darla Guajardo, VC's director of nursing. "Additionally, they can have an opportunity to meet faculty and staff and learn significant aspects of the program."
The program is a one-year certificate program designed to enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies related to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals. Vocational nursing graduates are prepared to function as members of the health care team under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians in varied health care settings.
The program can also serve as a bridge for those wishing to continue into the college's associate degree - nursing program to earn certification as a registered nurse.
Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible to apply to take the National Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses.
