A contested race has developed in the Calhoun County Democratic Party primary.

Port Lavaca resident Kenneth Wenske, 59, a day operator, filed Thursday for the party's nomination for justice of the peace, Precinct 2. He will face Calvin R. Anderle, 56-year-old jailer with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, in the primary election March 4.

Incumbent Justice of the Peace James Duckett announced he would not seek re-election.
