Lady Horns headed back to state tournament

Schulenburg will make its second consecutive appearance at the state volleyball tournament in Garland on Thursday.

The Lady Horns (41-3) will play a rematch of last year's Class 2A state final against Brock (36-8) at 1 p.m. at the Curtis Culwell Center.

The other semifinal game will be between Crawford (46-2) and Bushland (36-5) at 3 p.m.

The Lady Horns advanced to the state tournament when they defeated District 28-2A rival, Poth, 25-16, 25-21, 18-25, 25-17, in the regional final.

Brock defeated Callisburg in five sets in its regional final match.

In last year's state final, Brock swept Schulenburg in three games, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19. It was Brock's first state championship.

If Schulenburg wins, it will advance to the state final game Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
