Help is on its way to new Crossroads residents learning the lay of the land.
The Victoria Chamber of Commerce's Newcomers Committee on Thursday will host its quarterly newcomers social.
The event, which spans 5:30 to 7 p.m. inside Victoria College's Museum of the Coastal Bend, 2200 E. Red River St., is aimed at helping those new to the area learn more about what the Crossroads has to offer and to meet other residents, said Amy Mundy, committee chairwoman.
The social includes complimentary appetizers and drinks, she said, as well as giveaways such as Texas Zoo passes, gym passes and the like.
"It's a variety of things around Victoria that we want people who are new to the community to experience," Mundy said.
Thursday's event is the third of its kind for the newcomers group, and she said it's become more popular over time. While 22 people who were new to the community attended the first event, attendance increased to about 60 the second time.
"It was a really great turnout with people of all different ages," she said. "This is a very fun, casual way to introduce people to Victoria."
