Did you know that if you get stopped for speeding, among many other violations, in a construction zone with workers present that the fine automatically doubles?

It does.

At the beginning and the end of work zones, signs are posted warning drivers of the construction zone. This law protects not only the construction crews but also the drivers as there could be heavy equipment or other dangers present.

I know there is always lots of construction going on in our city, so let's all be vigilant and obey the warning signs at the construction sites.

For more information, see the Texas Transportation Code Section 542.404.

The Victoria Police Department Traffic Safety Unit invites citizens to inform us of any traffic issues that you observe. The easiest way to do this is go to our website,, then go to the VPD Customer Service Request tab in the center of the page and follow the directions.
