The 19th annual Let's Stand Together community Thanksgiving dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish hall, 207 Graham St. in Cuero.

The event began in 1994, when Carrie Liendo Ruiz organized the first community dinner.

Ruiz died in 2007, but the tradition has been continued by her family and friends.

"If anyone doesn't have a place to go for Thanksgiving, you are welcome to join us," said David Ruiz, son of the woman who began the dinner. "There will be fellowship and some entertainment, too."

Plates may also be delivered to the homebound or taken out, Ruiz said.

Volunteers are always welcome to help with dinner preparation starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday or at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day or to assist with cleanup after the dinner.
