"And God saw everything that He made and behold, it was good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
- Genesis 1:31
On the seventh day, God saw that His world was good, so He pulled up His biggest creation - His beach - and sat on a tidal shelf and He rested. God smiled at himself and at the beauty He had laid out in front of Him in the form of the sea. But He didn't shut down.
This week, we Americans experienced a strange phenomenon. Our government shut down.
I will not bore you by explaining the three parts of our government that must all work together, or it doesn't work. So, the United States of America shut down.
I am so glad that my God never shuts down. The fact is that when His people feel like shutting down, God works even harder in order to prove His love toward us. This is what we call grace - God's unmerited love.
Dear Lord, thank you for never quitting on us. We won't get it all right in this life so You forgive our sins. We can still one day live with You in Your glory in Heaven eternally. Thank God we never turn to You and You say, "Closed."
