Honk if you love free cars.
Keith Williams will be doing just that Monday as he drives his brand-new 2013 hybrid Ford Fusion all the way from Dallas to Point Comfort.
Williams, 52, was one of three randomly selected winners in the Drive Clean Across Texas sweepstakes, which was sponsored by the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Department of Transportation.
In addition to being chosen to possibly win a new car, he was issued four tickets to Sunday's Dallas Cowboys vs. Denver Broncos game and a parking pass.
Before kickoff, Williams and Sue Gaines, of Melissa, drew keys to determine if their car was the honking winner. A third finalist who was also chosen to draw a key, Lyssa Davoust, of Waco, did not appear for the contest.
"When I heard I won, I'm not sure what I was thinking. I was just hoping it was going to honk," Williams said. "I threw my hands up, and I was thrilled to death. I've never won anything."
Williams will pick up the car Monday and drive it home. He will give his existing car, a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, to his daughter, Ashleigh Williams, 24, who recently graduated from Texas A&M University.
"She finally gets a car of her own," Williams said.
The Point Comfort Dow Chemical analytical technologist said his favorite feature on his new car is that it's a hybrid.
"It will get good gas mileage," he said.
Alongside winning the car, the football game was one of the best he's seen, he said.
"It was very good, a high-scoring affair," he said.
