A 17-year-old man confessed Tuesday to shooting a Ganado fisherman.

Jackson, Miss., police have taken Shaun Brown into custody and charged him with capital murder for the shooting death of James "Jimmy" Johnson, 57, Public Information Officer Colendula Green said.

Johnson was staying at Motel 6, 6145 Interstate 55 North, with his wife Sunday to compete in a fishing tournament.

Friends say he noticed a man burglarizing his boat. An altercation ensued, and the man shot Johnson in the face. Johnson was pronounced dead when officers arrived on the scene, Green said.

His wife was not hurt.
