UHV soccer teams sweep Huston-Tillotson

AUSTIN - The UHV women's soccer team scored three goals in each half as the Jaguars (6-7) defeated Huston-Tillotson 6-1 Saturday afternoon.

Sheilat Akapo recorded her second hat trick of the season with one goal in the first half and two more in the second.

It was Megan Huerta, however, that started off the scoring for the Jaguars off of a cross from Nereyda Martinez. Martinez followed with a goal of her own that was assisted by Akapo, who scored her first goal on a header a short while later.

Caroline Carvajal also had a goal in the second half.

UHV outshot Huston-Tillotson (4-5-2) 17-7, including 7-3 in shots on goal.

AUSTIN - Huston-Tillotson (5-6-2) kept the score close at halftime, with UHV leading just 1-0.

But in the second half, the Jaguars came to life with three goals from three different players as UHV (9-4-2) claimed the 4-0 victory.

Mauricio Magalon scored the first-half goal for UHV, and Ben Taylor, Hector Gonzalez and Kyle Talley scored the second-half goals.

Goalkeeper Henrik Hundesruegge had four saves.
