The Senate and Harry Reid wanted unlimited spending, which was refused by the House, so the government shut down. Reid and the president refused to negotiate with the House.
The government has robbed Social Security for years. Anyone who did not object to stealing Social Security should repay it with their own paychecks, savings and retirement. This should be paid by those in office, no longer in office, retired and inheritance of deceased - also, this should come from past and present presidents. Stealing is lawlessness, and if they don't repay, they should go to jail.
