Five people were taken to local hospitals Wednesday after a four-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 87 North.
The Victoria Fire Department responded to the call at 9742 U.S. Highway 87 North at 12:36 p.m., said Battalion Chief Shannon Martin.
A 2012 Honda driven by Margaret Mueller, 79, of Cuero, pulled out a private driveway onto the highway and was struck by a 2013 Buick traveling south, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Gerald Bryant.
The Buick, driven by Kristi Maner, 30, of Goliad, was then hit from behind by a 2004 Saturn driven by Veronica Dixenmann, 35, of Victoria.
The crash sent the Buick into the northbound lane, where it struck a 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by Robert Harris, 42, of Nursery.
Mueller and Harris were taken by ambulance to Citizens Medical Center, where they were treated and released.
Maner, Dixenmann and 24-year-old Porsche Dixenmann, a passenger in the Buick, were taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro.
Porsche Dixenmann was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon. Veronica Dixenmann and Maner were treated and released, said a hospital spokeswoman.
Assisting investigating Trooper Jeannie Slavacek were commercial vehicle enforcement troopers, the Victoria County Sheriff's Office and Victoria Police Department, said Bryant.
Cuero Emergency Medical Service also responded and assisted with transporting patients, Martin said.
