Improving economy, growing business leads to growth for one Victoria furniture company

One Victoria furniture company has a bit of added elbow room following a recent move.
Furniture Hutt opened Friday in its new location, 1505 N. Navarro St., owner Juan Casas said.
The company, which first opened for business in May 2009, previously called Laurent Street home.
Casas said the move comes because of improved customer traffic in recent months. He attributed the store's growth to an improving economy, noting the oil and gas industry has many people moving to the Crossroads.
"Business has been pretty good, and we needed a bigger place," he said, noting the relocation ups the company's space from 1,600 square feet to about 11,200. "We thought this would be a great opportunity to be on Navarro and not go so far north."
Although Furniture Hutt considered building a new showroom, Casas said it opted instead to renovate an existing building that had long sat vacant.
In addition to the added room, the new space allows the company to increase its offerings, he said. More electronics have joined the mix, he explained. And while the company was once solely a rent-to-own store, it now offers financing.
Casas said he looks forward to the coming months.
"We have a new, friendly staff ready to meet and greet anybody who's willing to come and give us a chance," he said.
