A man caught burglarizing a Victoria home Tuesday remains at large after eluding Victoria police officers in the H-E-B on Rio Grande.

Police Lt. Caleb Breshears said officers followed the man into the H-E-B about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday moments after he attempted to burglarize a home in the 300 block of East Power Avenue.

The man ran from the home when police arrived on scene. No items were stolen from the residence.

Officers Blair Cerny, Rick Soto and Stephen Lang chased the man 12 blocks in their vehicles to the H-E-B grocery store parking lot.

Breshears said the officers walked inside the store and searched for the man but were unable to locate him.

"He went in the store. I don't know how far he went in, but he did go in," Breshears said.

Evidence was collected from the home, and police are following up on a few leads to identify the man.

No arrests were made Tuesday, and the man's identity is unknown.
