UHV men's team wins one on the road

SHAWNEE, Okla. - After getting shut out Saturday, the UHV men's team rebounded, beating the Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer team 4-1.

UHV (2-2) scored first with a header by Jhostan Padron in the 19th minute of the first half. Jack Pluckwell provided the assist for Padron.

Mauricio Malagon put in another goal in the first half to help UHV go ahead 2-0. He scored in the 36th minute.

In the 75th minute, Christian Turman put UHV up 3-0. Eight minutes later, Taylor Gordon scored the fourth and final goal of the evening for UHV.

Khalil Benalioulhaj scored the first and only goal for the Bisons (0-2) in the 84th minute.

The Jaguars will play Mid-American Christian on Saturday.

UHV women held scoreless

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer team needed one goal to defeat the UHV women's team 1-0 Thursday night.

The Lady Bisons (1-0) got the lead early in the first half of the match. Marta Venegas passed UHV goalkeeper Jennifer Sanchez to strike at the two-minute mark.

UHV (2-2) then attempted to create opportunities to score as much as it could. The Lady Bisons did as well, having nine shots on goal.

Five shots on goal were taken by UHV. Four shots on goal were by Sheilat Akapo, Haley Hicks, Alexis Hernandez and Megan Huerta.
