UHV men's wins again on road

OKLAHOMA CITY - Early scoring for the UHV men's soccer team helped it beat Mid-Christian American 3-1 Saturday afternoon.

Less than a minute into the first half, Refugio native Jhostan Padron scored to give the Jaguars (3-2) an early lead. Freshman Daniel Lozano scored in the 22nd minute to propel the Jaguars' lead 2-0.

Before halftime, the Evangels (1-1) got on the board, thanks to a goal by Marcelo Maculima in the 30th minute.

Lozano added another goal in the 56th minute of the second half to seal the Jagaurs' victory.

UHV women struggle

OKLAHOMA CITY - After getting shutout Thursday, the UHV women's team's struggles continued Saturday, falling the Mid-Christian American 6-2.

The Jaguars (2-3) tied the game in the first half when junior Briana Holmes scored on a breakaway in the 13th minute.

The Lady Evangels (1-1) scored another goal to go up 2-1 at halftime.

For the Jaguars, they would not see another goal until the 65th minute by sophomore Ciara Devore.

Chelsea Swisher scored three of the six goals for the Lady Evangels.
