A crush of cheers reverberated through the stadium as Edna High School parent Tara Orsak reached to put nacho chips onto a paper tray.
Orsak and her husband, Shannon Orsak, both Edna Athletic Booster Club volunteers, were busy working the concession stands at the Edna vs. Refugio game.
Last year, the booster club raised $30,000 for the school's athletic department to spend on student needs, said Andy Louderback, booster club vice president and Jackson County sheriff.
"It's an opportunity for us to support the students of Edna," Tara Orsak said. "The funds raised don't just go out to high school athletics but to junior high as well."
Orsak's son, freshman Cade Orsak, 15, is on the junior varsity football team. The couple also has two children who attend Edna Junior High School.
"I try to help out when I can," Orsak said. "When my kids aren't playing, I try to make myself available."
