Victoria County Judge Don Pozzi announced Wednesday he would seek a fourth term in office.

Pozzi, who joined the Republican Party in March, said in a prepared statement he wants to continue bringing a "common-sense approach to the office" along with his core conservative beliefs.

Filing opens Nov. 9 for the March 4 primary election.

The General Election is set for Nov. 4, 2014.

Along with the county judge position, several county and district offices will be up for election, as well as the state governor's office.

"We have maintained our independence and common-sense approach to managing local government despite unintended consequences that are sometimes placed in our way by state and federal government bureaucracies," Pozzi said in a prepared statement.

In office since January 2003, Pozzi said he wants to provide experienced leadership to ensure the community recognizes and takes advantage of all opportunities that come its way - whether for economic development and job opportunities or quality of life.

He has practiced as a private attorney in Victoria for 32 years. He has also spent much time volunteering on nonprofit boards.

He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America - having served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. He is also a member of the American Legion.

Republican Party Chairman Michael Cloud said the party welcomes the announcement.

"He is a respected member of our community whose entire life has shown his commitment to public service," Cloud said. "His effectiveness as our county judge over the years has won him friends and supporters across the political spectrum."
