Conspirare takes on Bach for performance at First United Methodist Church
Sept. 23, 2013 at 4:23 a.m.
Bach fans can get a taste of the composer's love of music with Conspirare on Thursday.
The Grammy-nominated choral ensemble will take the stage at the First United Methodist Church, 407 N. Bridge St., for one night.
"Having Bach at the core of a program like this illustrates the endless imagination of great composers - invert, spin, modulate - all to craft something fresh and new," said Craig Hella Johnson, Conspirare artistic director.
Music will include work from Bach and pieces by Gustav Mahler, Steven Sametz and young Estonian composer Part Uusberg. Sametz will also be in attendance for the premiere of the new revision of his work "In Time Of."
Victoria Bach Festival pianist and organist Faith DeBow, cellist Douglas Harvey and double bassist David Dawson will perform with the choir.
Tickets are $20 to $25 and $10 for students. Tickets are on sale online at victoriabachfestival.com. For more information, visit victoriabachfestival.org or call 361-570-5788.
