The "You Make a Difference" recipient provides direct services to the children in VISD who have been identified as "food insecure" and to many other students whose families are clients of one or more of the active member agencies of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent. The agencies provide more than 22,000 meals every month in their service area. The BackPack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when free or reduced-priced school lunches are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
