Spring gardening: My little helper, 3-year-old Violet.

Violet Olivia Moose loves her grandmother’s garden almost as much as her grandmother does.

The 3-year-old loves helping grandma Juanita Hultquist water her plants several times a week while being babysat.

“She loves to be outdoors,” her grandmother said. “She’s a good helper.”

Violet even loves making sure she takes flowers home every time to her mom, Hultquist said. Violet is the daughter of Dale H. Moose and Connie Moose, of Victoria.

Hultquist’s winning photo, which was one of many submitted, for the March photo contest won her two Cinemark movie passes.

We had a nice show of submitted photos of area gardens and plants, and we are glad your gardens are coming along just great this spring.

Our next photo contest, however, is very similar. We know along with springtime comes wildflowers, so we want to see your best photos of those wonderful flowers popping up all over the Crossroads.

Send us your wildflower photos to Your Photos at by 5 p.m. April 18, and don't forget to tell us where you took those photos.

Make sure you choose the category "Wildflowers 2014" when you submit your photo. The winning photographer will receive two movie tickets and be featured in the Victoria Advocate.
