Jags sweep doubleheader against Prairie View

After a long weekend against No. 4 LSU-Alexandria, the Jaguars came back Tuesday in a strong sweep of Prairie View A&M (6-19) at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.

In the first of the day's doubleheader, UHV (24-11) scored at least once an inning to finish the game 5-0 with nine hits and no errors.

Senior Marley Moehrig went 1 for 3, bringing in three baserunners.

Rachel Laird hit 2 for 4 in the first game.

Freshman Savannah Crittenden pitched the first five innings and allowed one hit and walked four batters. Seminole Youngblood finished the game and struck out one.

In the second game, UHV pulled ahead in the third inning with five runs scored.

Another seven runs gave the Jaguars a 13-6 victory over the Panthers.

Catcher Kristina Droz went 2 for 3 and three RBIs.

Isabella Soto hit 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Both Shelby Smith and Ashley Winegeart got three hits and one RBI.

Alicia Fikac pitched three innings in the second game and struck out one and allowed six hits.

Youngblood and Crittenden both pitched two innings.

UHV's next home doubleheader will be Thursday against Our Lady of the Lake University.
