Extension Agent: Grass-fed beef conference scheduled for May 29-30

The interest in niche beef markets continues to increase as a result of consumer demand and beef producers identifying new value added markets. One such market that has seen a significant increase in popularity in the past few years is grass-fed beef.

Consumer interest in natural, grass-fed and organic beef is on the rise. In an effort to provide producers with sound, research-based information and production management techniques related to this specialized segment of the beef industry, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is offering the fourth conference focused on grass-fed beef production.

The conference will be on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station on May 29 and 30. Topics covered include the fundamentals of growing forages, types of cattle suited for grass-fed beef, herd health, carcass fabrication, consumers' expectations, marketing, sustainability and many other related topics.
