Negative rhetoric has brainwashed Americans

Editor, the Advocate:

One technique used to get people to believe that something is true when it really isn't is to repeat the same slogan over and over again until listeners come to believe it is true without stopping to think about it.

The process begins by defining your opponent with negative labels. In this game, it is not only OK to lie, it is mandatory.

How do you know if this strategy works? You know you have been brainwashed if you believe President Obama is not a U.S. citizen, is a socialist, is a Communist, is a fascist, is an imperial president or is far left.

Need I go on? This president has had to endure disrespect like no other president before him.

Republicans have been working very hard at characterizing everything President Obama does as a disaster. If he eats a slice of apple pie Friday, he is promoting an unhealthy diet. If he doesn't have a slice Saturday, he is un-American.

You know you are being brainwashed if you believe it.
