Workers Defense Project is topic of Crossroads Progressive Women meeting

The Crossroads Progressive Women group is hosting a presentation on a project that could influence the area's workforce.
Through the Workers Defense Project, the public can learn how to empower low-income workers to achieve fair employment through education, direct services, organizing and strategic partnerships. Guest speaker Cristina Tzintzun, executive director of the project, will talk about her efforts to ensure safe jobs for construction workers.
She has been named "Hero of the New South" by Southern Living Magazine and won the national Trabajadora: Community Leader award from the National Labor Council for Latin American Advancement. Her work has been covered in The New York Times, National Public Radio, Univision and USA Today.
