"He is not here: for He is risen as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." - Matthew 28:6
When I went to college at Baylor University, we put on many modern dance performances. By the time I was a senior, we had practically worn out the modern dance depicting the place where Jesus rose from the dead. The two practice Jesuses had dropped out of college and were sent to Vietnam as Marines, much against their wills.
I, too, had gotten pretty tired of the boy dressed in Levi's at all of our practices, walking off to his side of the stage when the two practice angels would start with "He is not here," and we would turn to start all over again.
The night of dress rehearsal, we got to that part again, and I turned and heard the angel say, "He is risen." I was dressed in my best Mary Magdalene costume, and I turned and looked, and there was the image of Jesus staring at me deeply with His hazel eyes. When I saw Him, He smiled at me, and without a passing thought, I turned, and I started yelling "Peter, disciples, He has returned to the place He told you to watch." I reached out to Jesus, and He said, "Do not touch me, and go tell the others that I have risen."
And I said, "My Lord and my God." Then I went and told the other two women.
Dear Lord, each time I go to the beach, I can still see that face waiting for me to look up at Him. Thank you, Lord, for giving Your earthly life for us. That is what makes this life so meaningful and full of color, just like God had planned it to be in the beginning.
