The community is invited to stand along the funeral procession in Victoria on Friday to honor a Yoakum soldier who died last week.

The funeral procession for Army Spc. Kerry Danyluk, 27, of Yoakum, will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Funeral Home and travel to Faith Family Church, according to an Honor361 news release.

Danyluk, a 2004 graduate of Yoakum High School, died April 15 of injuries he suffered from small arms fire April 12 in Pul-e-Alam, Logar province, Afghanistan.

Community members are asked to stand along the sides of the procession route holding American flags.

It is appropriate to stand up and salute or hold your hand over your heart while the procession goes by, according to the news release.

Victoria Police Department and the Patriot Guard will escort the procession.

"We're in debt to the family. It's our duty to honor him and his unselfish ultimate sacrifice. My dream is to make sure that it's shoulder-to-shoulder patriots honoring him for the entire route," said Gilbert Ramon, president of Honor361.

Danyluk is survived by his mother, father, sister and brother.
