A 26-year-old Port Lavaca man died Tuesday after falling 25 feet while pressure washing a bin at Formosa.

Calhoun County authorities are investigating what caused Christopher Adames to fall to his death, said Calhoun County Sheriff George Aleman.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the fatality, OSHA spokeswoman Diana Petterson said in an email Tuesday.

Adames, a contract employee, was performing routine cleaning activities when he fell, according to a Formosa news release.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office received the emergency call at 12:10 p.m., and emergency medical services workers arrived at the scene at 12:24 p.m.

First responders were unable to save Adames, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff said.
