A white Nissan Armada was able to evade officers from the Victoria County Sheriff's Office and the Victoria Police Department on Friday morning in a high-speed chase.

The sheriff's office received a call about 10:30 a.m., in which someone reported witnessing about 20 people jump off a train near Farm-to-Market 616 and load into a white Nissan Armada, said Lt. Gary Lytle of the sheriff's office.

Deputies located the vehicle on U.S. Highway 87 traveling toward Victoria and tried to stop the vehicle on suspicion of failure to signal, Lytle said.

The vehicle fled, Lytle said, traveling about 100 mph, causing the deputy to terminate the chase because of safety issues.

Victoria Police Department resumed the chase on Ben Jordan Street but also ended it because of risk to the public.

Because the SUV had a paper license, Lytle said, deputies were unable to read the plate number.
