Editor, the Advocate:

The Victoria Symphony concluded its last concert of the season Saturday evening. If you missed it, you missed what I think was the best performance of the season by a long shot - especially because of the selection of music.

There were two presentations. The first one was on the edge of the stage with the curtains drawn. The Brandenburg musicians gave us two concertos, which were typical of the music when harpsichords were present. It was unusual and delightful.

However, in my view, the second part of the night's performance - with an unusually large number of musicians - was the most outstanding, especially the very beautiful, haunting and somber "Pines of Rome." Loved it - standing ovation! Thank you to Darryl One and all of the talented musicians.

James McHaney, Victoria
