Between 7:30-7:50 a.m. Friday about 800 AEP customers in northwest Victoria lost power, including DeTar Hospital North.

"The hospital has plans in place for responding to unexpected outages. Backup generators continued to supply power to the hospital, and patient care was uninterrupted," said DeTar spokeswoman Judith Barefield in a statement.

The cause of the outage has not been identified, said AEP spokesman Elgin Janssen.

The outage was in the area of a construction site on the northwest side of Victoria just off Loop 463, he said.

Power was out for about 15 to 20 minutes, before being completely restored, he said.
