A downstairs room at the Six Flags Motel caught fire early Monday morning.

No one was injured in the fire, Roger Hempel, Victoria Fire Department battalion chief, said. The cause is still under investigation.

The department received a call at 2:15 a.m. about the fire. Upon arrival at the motel, 3009 Houston Highway, the department found heavy smoke coming from Room 9, a downstairs motel room.

As crews entered the motel, they found the fire located between the first and second floor, Hempel said. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes.

The occupants affected were relocated to other vacant rooms at the motel by management, he said.

Victoria Fire Department cleared the scene at 4:30 a.m.
