Thumbs-up and a big thank you to the city of Victoria. Y'all made me happy, happy, happy with how fast you addressed the issues with the "Welcome to Victoria" sign.

Dawn, Victoria

A thumbs-up to the Victoria Advocate for giving tickets for laser tag. They had tickets in the past, such as tickets for the Generals game and tickets for the Texas Zoo. I was not able to take advantage of those because of other commitments.

Thank you for the two tickets to laser tag. My grandchildren had an awesome time.

Pat, Cuero

I'd like to give an appreciative thumbs-up to the gentleman and the young lady who assisted in getting my purse back to me after I had unfortunately left it in my shopping cart at Target recently.

Thanks be to God that we still have some special people in this world.

Elizabeth, Cuero

Thumbs-up to Texas A&M University for having all the impressive renovations to Kyle Field done in time for the first game of the season.

Jon, Victoria

Thumbs-up to Danny Kubecka and Kubecka Flying Service for volunteering his time, aircraft and equipment to assist the fire department and law enforcement in fighting the big fire outside Edna on Aug. 8.

Thumbs-up also to the four Boy Scouts who earned their Eagle rank. Congratulations to them and their families.

Shirley, Edna

Thumbs-up to Albert Pena, owner of "Call Albert Landscaping," for him and his crew giving a helping hand in cleaning up Will Rogers Park. Albert is a good example of what all citizens should do, which is to help keep our community looking its best. Best Citizen Award should go to Albert.

John, Victoria

Thumbs-up to Victoria for all the honks, waves and thumbs up at our rally Aug. 9 at Navarro and Sam Houston streets standing up for America, our military and veterans, protecting our border and the Marine still in the Mexican jail.

Joy, Victoria

A big thumbs-down to all those ungrateful, un-American slobs who litter our roads and waterways with trash.

Garland, Victoria

Thumbs-down to the Peanuts comic strip that ran Aug. 2. How many people would put themselves in harms way like that? Fly a kite with a wire? That's suicide by electrocution!

Donald, Shiner
