A Victoria motorcyclist was listed in critical condition Monday night after he was injured in a wreck two days earlier.

Randy Duke, 50, was traveling east in the 100 block of Mockingbird Lane on Saturday.

A 2000 green Ford Taurus going the opposite direction failed to yield the right of way while turning into a private parking lot and struck him.

The driver, Elvira Mary Valle, 29, of Victoria, was given citations for having an expired driver's license and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Duke, who was en route to work, was driving a 2013 black Harley-Davidson, according to a report by the Victoria Police Department.

He was taken to Citizens Medical Center, where he was treated and transferred, said Shannon Spree, a hospital spokeswoman.

Duke was listed in critical condition at University Hospital in San Antonio on Monday night, according to a hospital spokesman there.

Wendy Duke wrote in a Facebook message that her husband underwent surgery Saturday and is scheduled for a surgery Tuesday.

The surgeries are necessary because his pelvis has been fractured.

"The doctors say Randy will have a long recovery ahead of him," she wrote.

Duke is a retired Victoria police officer. He also used to work at the Victoria County Criminal District Attorney's Office, according to Advocate archives.
