Victoria police officer Mark Jameson was welcomed as the newest captain to the department during a ceremony Tuesday. Jameson has spent the past 17 years with the police department, joining in January 1997 after moving from Pennsylvania.
Jameson has served the department as a field training officer, a member of the SWAT team and as a school resource officer at Memorial High School from 2004 until 2008 before being promoted to sergeant.
"This is an important day for the Victoria police department as we promote and fill a key leadership position in the organization," Victoria Police Chief J.J. Craig said. "I have no doubt that Capt. Jameson will provide strong leadership within the department and continue to serve the community of Victoria in a dedicated and professional manner."
Jameson was transferred to the Special Crimes Unit in 2012 and promoted to lieutenant later that year. He served as the lieutenant of the Investigations Division until January 2014 and will now oversee the Support Services Division, which includes the records section and training and recruitment unit.
