The Friends of the Library will host its last book sale of the year from Sept. 8 to 13 in the Bronte Room of the Victoria Public Library.
The books in the sale will include fiction, nonfiction, children's, home-schooling, art, medical, textbooks and religion among other genres. Movies, music and other items will also be sold.
This year, there seems to be a lot of cookbooks and CDs, said Shirley Clements, president of the Friends of the Library board.
Korie Krohn, who handles public relations for the board, said she found a vintage movie poster for $2 at one of the sales and later found similar posters online for much more.
"That is what I find so wonderful about these sales," she said. "They not only sell books at low rates but also there is no telling what you might find there."
Book prices start at 10 cents.
She said she is always surprised by what is donated to the sale.
Members of the library can take advantage of a presale from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7. Memberships can be purchased at that time. The cost is $10 for individuals and $25 for family memberships, which run from January to December.
The Sunday presale has a 25-item limit.
The sale will be open to the public Monday through Friday during regular library hours: from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The book sale will run from 9 a.m. until noon Sept. 13, when all the remaining books will be sold at half price.
A $1 bag of books special will also be available on the last day with a $5 Friends of the Library book bag.
All sale items have been donated. All proceeds of the sale are used to buy books and other materials for the Victoria Public Library. The book sale also funds reading programs and enrichment programs.
The next book sale is planned for January.
