The Victoria Main Street Program was one of 63 programs recently recognized for its progress as a Main Street community.
These cities will now be recommended for national recognition.
The announcement was made Jan. 29 by the Texas Historical Commission's Texas Main Street Program during its winter gathering in Seguin.
"National accreditation and the recognition that goes along with it is a statement that the local Main Street Program is working hard and consistently moving forward to achieve downtown revitalization goals that are grounded in historic preservation," Debra Drescher, Texas Main Street Program state coordinator, said.
The Texas Main Street Program will recommend the designated programs to the National Main Street Program for 2014 National Accreditation, which will host the National Main Street conference May 18-20 in Detroit.
