Editor, the Advocate:
Parodying our current county judge's late Democrat peer, Sen. Lloyd Bentsen: "Mr. Pozzi, I knew President Reagan, and sir, you are no Ron Reagan."
Today, two men are running for county judge in the Republican primary.
Only one is a Republican, and that Republican is not three-term Democrat Don Pozzi.
Mr. Pozzi's tax and spend ways remind me of former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill. Under Pozzi, property tax collection has skyrocketed 80 percent, and the county budget has grown more than 70 percent.
Mr. Pozzi's cronyism is similar to fabled Democrat Lyndon Johnson. Do you recall Mr. Pozzi's attempt to run the University of Houston-Victoria out of town? What about all of the downtown property Mr. Pozzi has purchased with county money? Who would have benefited from such moves?
Last month, an associate of Mr. Pozzi noted to me as a matter of fact:
"Don Pozzi is not a Democrat. Neither will he be a member of the Republican Party. Don is a member of the Pozzi Party."
The real Republican running for county judge is the candidate with a "new vision and new leadership."
I encourage you to vote for Mr. Ben Zeller.
