El Campo senior gets first in 100-yard breaststroke

SAN ANTONIO - El Campo senior Kari Wilkins broke her previous record in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Region VII 4A championship swim meet Saturday at Palo Alto College.

Wilkins finished the event in 1 min, 5.31 seconds, which is three seconds faster than the district-record time she set at the District 27-4A swim meet in January. Wilkins placed first in the event.

El Campo's women's team ranked fifth overall with 157.5 points. Victoria West ranked 16th with 22 points, and Victoria East came in 23rd with three points.

The men's team for El Campo ranked 10th with 97.5 points; West came in 14th with 44 points; East came in 18th with 21 points.
