Armando Aguinaga, 19, of Victoria, is accused of crashing a vehicle into a home in the 700 block of Larkspur Street and then fleeing the scene. The vehicle, a Nissan Rogue SL, was found in front of Aguinaga's uncle's house on Clay Street.

A 19-year-old Victoria man was arrested Wednesday after crashing his vehicle into the side of a house and fleeing the scene on foot.

Armando Aguinaga was arrested and booked at the Victoria County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a wreck and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

A witness told officers that Aguinaga had a handgun. The gun was later recovered in a grassy area, officers said.

Aguinaga was traveling near the intersection of Larkspur Street and Berkman Drive in a gray 2010 Nissan Rogue when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house on the corner.

According to Department of Public Safety records, the car is owned by Derrick Broome Anahi, of Victoria.

The homeowners told officers they were in a back room of the house when they heard a loud bang.

They did not realize their home had been damaged until officers knocked at the door.

Surface damage to the home appeared minimal, officers said.
