St. Mary's Altar Society met Sunday for its regular meeting.
President Pattie Stevens opened with prayer. Forty members were present.
Stevens announced that altar care for March will be Patty Schaar and herself.
Schaar, Stella Silva and Margaret Bodeker did the yearly audit. The books are in order.
Hostesses for the meeting were Unice Dove, Pam Fanelli, Patty Schaar, Margaret Clegg and Bernice Kurtz.
The half-day retreat sponsored by the society will be held in September. Speaker will be the Rev. Patrick Knippenberg.
Karen Allums announced that the cake wheel chaired by the society at the Parish Festival was fun and a success. Ninety-one cakes were donated. She thanked all members who helped and baked.
Jo Ann Bone announced that three quilts and many other handmade items were donated to the festival by the sewing group. The group sews every Thursday. All are welcome to come. It meets at the annex from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Stevens reminded us that Lent begins March 5. The society is in charge of the Lenten Soup Supper on March 7 after the Stations of the Cross. Mary Ann Vivion and Fluff Young are in charge of the kitchen that day.
The Rev. Dominic Boasiako thanked all for the work at the Parish Festival on Feb. 9. He gave an inspiring talk on Lent.
Rev. Gabriel Mensah gave the benediction, and the meeting adjourned for an enjoyable Valentine themed social.
