Editor, the Advocate:
The Obama administration has come up with another not-so-brilliant plan to reduce unemployment. It's asking people to work fewer hours; presumably, so they can spend more time with their families. In actuality, the plan is to force employers to hire more people at reduced hours so that more people will have jobs.
The problem with it is, of course, that most families cannot exist on less than 40 hours weekly. Therefore, the difference will be made up by the taxpayers in free medical care, unemployment compensation and whatever else the administration can dream up for separating the taxpayers from their money.
The purpose of this, by the administration, is to foster even more dependency on government, thereby cementing its control over more and more people. There is nothing benevolent in their purpose. Control of every aspect of our lives is what goads the Democrats. This dependency will ensure even more votes for them.
The days of working hard to feed one's family, achieve one's goals and save for retirement are rapidly slipping away from us in the power-mad quest of the Democrats.
When Obama said he wanted to fundamentally change America, no one would have thought he meant to create a lazy, welfare-dependent nation, but it seems that is precisely what he intends.
